Hatta Dam
I spent 12 days in UAE and I had a good time there, the hostel in Dubai where I stayed there were people from Iran, Egypt, Algeria, Russia, Pakistan, India & Nepal, the hostel owner Amir (an egyptian) was very good and I had a very good time.
Here are some of the things that I noticed in UAE.
- UAE's population is mostly immigrants from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Egypt, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Russia. You don't see emiratis working in grocery store, restaurant and other places. Also I didn't see many emiratis using Dubai Metro, seems like they mostly use their personal car or use the Gold class Cabin of Dubai Metro.
- Public Transportation between and within the emirates is good but If you want to go to a place little outside of city, you probably need your own Car or take an expensive taxi. Car rentals are quite popular in UAE.
- You will see a lot of Spa/Massage cards with obscene photos of women, littered around many streets and bus stops in UAE, which is shameful.
- There were a lot of restaurants and grocery shops run by people from Kerala.
- Even at the end of month of November weather was quite hot in UAE.
- Dubai metro runs till midnight and starts early in morning, making it easy to travel till late night. Many restaurants are open 24 hour and people are out on streets till late night. UAE is quite safe.
- Most of the bus and taxi drivers I met, were from Pakistan.
