Ushguli

Got ready in the morning, I had to change the hostel because the one in which I stayed last night was full for the day. Booked for one night in a hostel near the main street in Mestia, quickly checked out of Irina Lextagi hostel and walked to the new hostel, I wanted to keep my heavier backpack in the new hostel before I leave for Ushguli at 10 AM.

Stored my backpack in the House in Mestia hostel, walked to the Central Bus station in Mestia, there were 8 of us going to Ushguli, 4 Germans, 1 French, 1 Japanese, 1 from South Korea and me. It was a 1:30 hour beautiful drive through the mountains, road was good.

We arrived at 11:30 AM in Ushguli at Koshki cafe. Some of the people in the group were going to stay the night in Ushguli village, driver gave us 3:30 hours to explore the village and the beautiful surroundings. I walked to an Old church and then started walking towards the Shkhara glacier, there were few people who were going to Shkhara glacier, it was around a 9 KM straight trail to Shkhara glacier from Ushguli.

I walked towards Shkhara glacier for 3 KM, the scenery was beautiful, snow covered mountains, water flowing down from mountains, cows and horses grazing on the greener mountains. On my way I met other people either going or coming from the Shkhara glacier. I had to go back to Mestia at 3 PM, and also it was very cold, I didn't have the proper gears. As I was heading back it started snowing but not heavily.

Came back to Koshki cafe where the driver was waiting, we left Ushguli at 3 PM and started our journey back to Mestia, reaching Mestia around 4:20 PM. Prepared some food, ate it and took some rest. In the evening I walked to Central Bus station to book my seat for Tbilisi for the next morning. Paid 50 GEL for Mestia to Tbilisi ticket, the bus would leave at 8 AM next day. There were a couple of bus/marshrutka operators at Mestia Central Bus station, I booked from a person named Vasili.
