Cho Ben Thanh (Ben Thanh Market), Ho Chi Minh City

VietJet flight from Delhi to Ho Chi Minh City was delayed around 1:30 hours, boarded the flight and I immediately slept and woke up just 15 minutes before landing at Tan Son Nhat airport in Saigon.

Bought the Viettel sim from the airport for 330,000 VND with unlimited data and enough minutes of free calling. There was a long queue at the immigration counter, it took 50 minutes to go through the immigration, which was very smooth. Collected my bag, took 2000,000 VND from an ATM at the airport, walked to the right after exiting from the airport to catch bus number 152. Paid 10,000 VND to bus conductor (the ticket price is only 5,000 VND the extra 5,000 VND is for my heavy backpack)

Got down at Ben Thanh market, walked to the Base Backpackers hostel, which was a 15 minutes walk from the bus stop. Checked-in to the hostel, took some rest and then got ready to see Ho Chi Minh city (HCMC).

I first walked to the Ben Thanh market (Cho Ben Thanh), purchased a pad lock for 100,000 VND which I think was not a good bargain. I wanted to see the Independence Palace but the guard at the entry made a cross sign indicating it is closed for the day.

Then walked to Jamia Al-Muslman Masjid, met a person from India, he was from Bihar and working as a wall painter in HCMC. Ate Nasi Lemak at Jamilah hotel, a malaysian restaurant near Ben Thanh market. Tried Coconut Lotus with Pandan cream and Roasted Oolong Milk tea at a 7-Eleven store near the Ben Thanh market.
